AGM 2018 Summary

Dear members
 
Monday last week we met in Melbourne and Sydney for yet another ASOP’s AGM. It was a great session with some interesting feedback which we’ll action upon. A number of new individuals attended the meeting in both locations and enriched us with their experience and suggestions.

After initially formalities, the meeting minutes from last year’s AGM were accepted. Our president went to deliver his annual report followed for the first time by our treasurer. Marko spoke about our organisation’s first financial intakings and sponsorship. He also presented his strategy for the upcoming year. The Election of committee resulted in a new-old committee.

For the first time we officially welcomed our new working group members: Jelena Kis in Sydney and Tanja Andric in Melbourne. Congratulations to our female members, they are without a doubt a dominant force in ASOP and as a committee we are very proud of it! 
 
It was also officially announced that ASOP will be joining forces with Sydney based organisation “Serbian Australian Professional Network – Sydney”. https://www.linkedin.com/groups/7021395
ASOP will continue existing as umbrella organisation. Over the coming months you can expect some communication in relation to this. 
 
Our main focus for next year will be to grow our membership base and drive our members’ engagement. Of course we will also continue delivering quality content and implementation of our financial strategy.

Expression of interest to join the committee

Dear members

We are approaching our annual AGM. ASOP has been steadily growing in the last year and so have  the needs and responsibilities of our committee members.

As a not-for-profit, we rely on volunteers to plan and execute our projects, and we’re looking for motivated members to join the committee and help us continue our journey. 

Responsibilities of a general committee member:

- Participate in working group meetings (usually monthly via phone)

- Work on various projects and regular ASOP sessions

- Actively participate in implementation of our strategy

- Represent ASOP in the public, promote our values and drive organisational growth

Requirements for expression of interest:

1. The candidate has to have been a member of ASOP for at least 12 months.

2. The candidate has to share their LinkedIn profile with us or email us most up to date CV.

3. The candidate has to answer following questions:

                - What kind of skill set would you bring to our committee?

                - What is one thing you would like to change about ASOP?

                - What would you like to achieve during your time as committee member?

Recruitment process:

Once you have expressed your interest by sending us an email and fulfilling the requirements above, our committee will review your application and shortlist candidates. Shortlisted candidates will be subsequently interviewed by at least two of our current committee members. If successful, you will be put forward to a vote by all present members during our next AGM, currently planned to be held in June.

Melbourne watch out, Sydney is catching up!

Dear all

Last Wednesday I had a great pleasure to meet our members from the Sydney chapter and what an evening it was!

Fifteen of us met at KPMG for an informal introduction and discussion about ASOP, its purpose, its past and its future. A lot of good and challenging questions, some great suggestions, planned presentations, mentoring offers and much more. After about two hours discussion, we continued our networking across the road in a great little terrace bar over few drinks and some amazing stories. Few of us welcomed number 12 on our watches by the time we arrived home. And it was worth every minute! Thank you Sydney, you made it a great ASOP event!

What will follow out of this meeting is a number of changes, some bigger some smaller, a number of presentations, hopefully new projects and most importantly an ever growing and strengthening ASOP chapter in Sydney. As we mentioned in the past, we would love to see a healthy and constructive competition between Melbourne and Sydney…where both locations will try to outdo each other in terms of presentations’ quality, member numbers and projects. 

We have recently received requests to open chapters in Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. As we are currently focusing most of our efforts on Sydney, we are also looking for technical solution to enable our members in other cities to participate in our presentations. Once Sydney and Melbourne are on the same level, we will commence establishing other branches.

Upskilling on Time Management ... Impressions

Last Tuesday we met in Melbourne and Sydney for another ASOP’s upskilling session specifically one of the most important skills, Time Management. Our guest speaker Helen Ebdon from Affirming Business and Executive Coaching delivered a great presentation on this topic. We had just over 20 attendees in Melbourne and 11 in Sydney, with latter continuously growing. Sydney members had also the opportunity to meet HE Serbian ambassador to Australia Miroljub Petrovic. He was visiting from Canberra to put his support behind our group. For this we are very grateful.

Melbourne chapter collected 170 AUD in form of volunteer contributions by our members.  These funds will be used for ongoing expenses and future development of our group. The committee will share more info about our finances in near future. 

We would like to ask members who’ve attended to take a few minutes of their time and share their feedback with us either via email or the contact form on our page.
